What Conservatory Furniture Should I Buy ? pt 2

Oct 23, 2026 Liv Baron

Behind the Product: The Alaska Conservatory Range

Alaska is our classic cane conservatory range, built around two things people ask us for most: a seat that is properly comfortable, and a look that never dates. It's handmade, beautifully detailed and sized to suit smaller conservatories, sunrooms and garden rooms.

Here's a look behind the product at what goes into it.

The detail is in the weave

The stand-out feature of Alaska is its decorative panelling. Two weaves sit side by side: a tight-knit rattan weave framed by thicker cane borders, and a lighter, airier cross-weave. The contrast gives each piece character without making it fussy.

The frames are sculpted, with curved arms, and finished with woven panels and lattice detailing. It's a classic look that sits happily in both traditional and modern interiors.

Handcrafted from natural cane

Every Alaska piece is crafted from natural cane and finished by hand. Our product notes describe the work as that of expert craftspeople using time-served skills passed down through generations, and you can see it in the neat, even weave.

We've also added a few practical touches. The feet on the furniture are capped with toughened plastic to protect both the frame and your floor.

The cushions seal the deal

The cushions are 11cm thick with memory foam, designed to keep their shape and stay comfortable for the lifetime of the suite. The armrests are flat and generous, so there's room to spread out, rest a book or settle in with a cuppa.

Choose from a wide range of fabrics, from soft neutrals such as Oatmeal Beige and Natural Stripe to livelier choices such as Conway Patchwork and Lewis Arran Red. Every Alaska fabric can be ordered, and you can request swatches or visit our Warwickshire showroom to see them in person. If you ever need replacements, multi-fit conservatory cushions are available separately.

Made for smaller spaces

The 2 Seater Sofa is a good example of Alaska's proportions: 127cm wide, 80cm deep and 92cm high, or 107cm to the top of the cushions. That's roomy enough to relax in and compact enough for a small conservatory.

The matching coffee table is just as considered. It measures 67cm wide, 52cm deep and 47cm high, with an 8mm thick tempered glass top built for regular use, plus a second shelf that's handy for magazines and books.
