The Best Quality Lutyens Benches on the Market Today from The Garden Furniture Centre.
Originally designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens the famous 19th Century architect Lutyens Benches are now one of the most instantly recognisable benches in the UK today.
Edwin Lutyens architecture was famous for its traditional but practical design two features that are still reflected in the design of these benches today.
With their curved, scroll-like armrests and intricate back design they make for an unforgettable piece of garden furniture.
We sell 1.5 metre and 1.9 metre sizes made of the highest quality Teak Wood. You will see we also sell FSC Certified and Painted versions as well …
Originally made from English Oak the more popular choice is now Teak Wood.
We’ve spent over two decades sourcing the highest quality A Grade Teak and this is reflected in our Lutyens benches.
Only Mortice and Tenon Joints are used and these are reinforced with Teak Dowells for unrivalled strength – unlike many other varieties on the market today that are bolted together so the joints go weak over time.
All Lutyens Benches are assembled on delivery for you as well.
Teak, by its very nature, is by far the best choice for outdoor furniture.
Often referred to as The Jewel of the Forest teak, by nature is very dense and oily.
It’s these qualities that make it very easily workable a must for shaping the intricate template of a Lutyens Bench.
The natural oils act as a natural repellent to termite and chemical attack and its very low rate of moisture retention makes it perfect for the rigours of the outdoor weather.
Perhaps its best quality is the lovely golden-brown colour – this is even more alluring in the Grade A teak wood that’s used to craft our teak furniture.
Over time the wood will age and go a lovely silver-grey patina which is the classic trademark of aged teak.
The wood can be restored back to its original look by using our range of Teak Care Products.
We recommend not to use Teak Oil as it is pretty impossible to remove and can cause black spots on the wood.
To help stop the wood developing black spots with age you can use Teak Patinzer.
