Peacock Bench …
A genius of design …
And craftsmanship for that matter.
Made entirely from unused ox-carts the appeal hits you right off the bat - and then you look a little closer and realise just how much thought has gone into this unique design.
And it’s a bench of scale that will make a great feature in any outdoor space - in fact we’ve got one on display in the courtyard attached to our Showroom - it never fails to catch the eye and always seems to have someone sitting on it!
Chunky and robustly finished …
With a wide flat seat that has a smoothed finish you really have got the comfort factor through and through.
The quartered wheel arms look great from all angles and are again smooth to the touch and soft on the eye.
Obviously the feature piece is the half wheel back that’s had individually shaped inserts fitted in between the spokes to make it symbolically resemble a peacock’s plumage.
There’s even a little decorative panel underneath the seat at the front that adds further character and supports the curved appeal.
Reclaimed teak has that antique appeal with the wear and tear still evident in many pieces of timber and remnants of previous use still visible throughout.
The individual pieces are finished with a light resin that highlights the grain and offers protection.
However, it is a well known fact that teak is very naturally oily and dense making it perfect for use outside as it is resilient to all the elements all year round and has supreme longevity compared with other timbers.
By reclaiming the teak local populations are reducing the amount of timber harvested direct from the forest so helping local environments as part of the process.
A win, win piece of furniture and a real talking point.
