Kensington Steamer Lounger …
Steamer loungers and chairs were originally made popular on the first ocean going Luxury Passenger Liners and Grand Passenger Ships like the Titanic …
Large passenger vessels like these were the forerunners to the Cruise Ships that we know today. With one difference - passage on them was reserved for the top level of society who had the money to enjoy the luxury travel they offered.
And luxury travel requires plenty of relaxation …
And so the steamer chair was designed for the wealthy clientele to enjoy maximum comfort on the decks of these huge ships.
Our modern take on the classic design is hand finished from the highest quality teak complete with solid brass fittings that were so characteristic in the original designs.
It’s also adjustable in a number of positions with a collapsible footrest as well …
It’s perfect for use both indoors and out so will look good outside for sunbathing purposes or in a steam room or even around an indoor pool.
The hand finished design will last for years and the teak will age gracefully to the silver-grey patina that is common, and so desirable, with this timber.
It is possible, for purely cosmetic purposes, to restore the aged teak back to its original honey-coloured aspect simply by using mild, soapy water and elbow grease.
We also have a range of Teak Care Products that perform the same function.
Unlike other, misinformed retailers, we do not recommend using Teak Oil.
Our friendly Sales Team in the Midlands will always offer added support on the phone if required.
